Sample memory configurations The following tables show sample memory configurations for one and two processor configurations that follow the appropriate memory guidelines. NOTE: 1R, 2R, and 4R in the following tables indicate single-, dual-, and quad-rank DIMMs respectively. My issue was that my brand new Gigabyte TRX40 Aorus Master Mother board was not recognising the ram is specific slots. I tried all of the following as a process of elimination: 1. Swapped ram to different slots and found one slot was not recognising ram. All ram and graphics card was re-seated multiple times - no luck. Cleared the CMOS. A memory slot, memory socket, or RAM slot allows RAM (computer memory) to be inserted into the computer. Most motherboards have two to four memory slots, which determine the type of RAM used with the computer. The most common RAM types are SDRAM and DDR for desktop computers and SODIMM for laptop computers, each having various types and speeds.
